Growing in Christian Faith

Growing Kids God’s Way

From newborns to 5th grade, the children at Putnam City are “raised up in the way children should go”…

The Children’s Department of PCUMC is constantly stretching and growing seeking ways to share the love of Christ with the little children who mean so much to Him. Every kid is precious and deserves to know that. We have lots of great opportunities to teach them this, and here are a few happening in this spring and summer season! Please let us know if you have any questions, and please don’t hesitate or call or email.

Regularly Scheduled Amazingness

Sunday School

Every Sunday morning 9:30 to 10:30 in the upstairs of the children/youth wing on the west end of the church – kids come together to spend time asking questions, getting answers, and just enjoying each other’s company. We aim to teach key Biblical truths and stories by looking at them in multiple creative ways suited to a variety of learning styles. Our volunteers guide each child while creating a safe and loving environment where everyone can have a great time!

On the second and fourth Sunday of the month our kids have the opportunity to attend Disciple Town Children’s Church where they learn skills and concepts that are foundational to anyone seeking to know Christ more deeply, no matter how old they are. This kid friendly mirror of the adult service also functions as a valuable transitional stepping stone for little ones who are not used to the expectations and traditions of a full blown adult worship service.

Children’s Choir

Music has an incredible capacity to teach creativity, discipline, and confidence. We will start on January 30 until April 10 from 6:30-7pm kids are welcomed in the choir room to learn songs and develop creativity in the world of music. They perform in the church service and some other events. This group is not meeting during the summer.

Boys & Girls Scouts

A great place for kids large and small to make friends and learn more about the world, the scouts span all ages and are constantly active learning new skills, going on camp outs, and having a great time. For more information on scouts see their page and contact the leadership. Boys meet Monday night, Girls on Thursdays.

And more throughout the year including:

Trunk or Treat

For kids’ enjoyment, adults decorate the back of their cars for Halloween, load up on candy, and come sit in a parking lot for kids to “trick or treat” from car to car.

Christmas Theatrical Spectacular Of Greatness Presentation

Each year we remember and reenact the nativity story of Mary and Joseph’s life where they journeyed to Bethlehem for the birth of Jesus.

Easter Egg Hunt

For Christians, the Easter egg is symbolic of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. An egg hunt involves hiding eggs outside for children to run around and find on Easter morning.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)

VBS offers contextualized Christian content that is Bible-based and relevant for preschool, primary, junior, teen and adult students. It is designed to strengthen and prepare students to learn how God walked with heroes of the Bible, and that God is always with us, too. Add to the adventure with out-of-this-world fun, learning, and timeless Bible stories that inspire kids to give glory to God, who is able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine!
